A Round up of Some of the Most Expensive Red Carpet Dresses

3 years ago by in Fashion Tagged: ,

I know I’m not alone when I say I see the dresses on the red carpet and can barely contain my excitement. The dresses are so luxurious and beautiful, it’s hard not to get into a flap over them! I thought I’d share some of the most expensive red carpet dresses with you in this post. You won’t believe what some of them cost!

Jennifer Lawrence, 2013 Academy Awards

If you know JLaw, you’ll know she can be quite clumsy. Hilarious, yet clumsy. While wearing her $4 million gown, she tripped as she accepted an award. In true JLaw style! This gown is the most expensive red carpet gown of all time. You can find more items like this at Justrichest.com.

Nicole Kidman, 1997 Academy Awards

Nicole Kidman made a huge style statement in this olive green gown on the red carpet, costing a cool $2 million. It had embroidery to the front, which was quite a risky move at the time. However, it paid off and the look is now an iconic one!

Lupita Nyong’o, 2015 Academy Awards

This dress was designed by Calvin Klein, and made jaws drop at the 2015 academy awards. Why? It was covered in pearls all over, which were a beautiful contrast to Lupita’s dark skin. The dress cost $106,000, but made headlines for other reasons too. It was stolen after the awards show! The dress was later returned when the thief realized that the pearls weren’t real.

Charlize Theron, 2013 Academy Awards

The peplum white gown that Charlize Theron wore to this event was noted for its simplicity. It cost a staggering $100,000, and had diamonds on the peplum skirt. She accessorized it just right, making a gorgeous statement on the red carpet.

Cate Blanchett, 2014 Academy Awards

This dress is one of my favourites; a beige gown covered from head to toe in Swarovski crystals. The gown cost $100,000. However, the whole look that Cate rocked that day cost $18million in total. Wowza!

Grace Kelly, 1955 Academy Awards

This dress became an iconic gown of its time, in gorgeous silk material the aquamarine color really turned heads. It only cost $4,000, but by today’s standards that would be over $30,000. It’s one of the most loved Oscar looks in all of history!

Keira Knightley, 2006 Academy Awards

Keira’s dress for the 2006 award ceremony was a gorgeous plum, and cost around $39,000. It was a custom made Vera Wang gown, with a gorgeous unique fishtail. It added curves in all of the right places, making Keira’s slight frame stand out. Not only did she wear a statement dress, she accessorized it with a beautiful blue necklace. She later auctioned the gown for charity, and it sold for over $4,000. They got a real bargain!

What do you think of these expensive red carpet dresses? Is there anything you feel should have made the list? Make sure you leave a comment below. The dresses keep on getting fancier and more expensive, and yet they never fail to amaze me!
